Lamborghini Spyder Handset Not Necessary

Have some extra money laying around the house with no idea on what to spend it on?  Needing a phone upgrade?  Well, we have the idea just for you!  Just released in Hong Kong, the Tonino Lamborghini Spyder Series of handsets has extremely good features for its enormous price of $13,800 – in Hong Kong money that is.  In the United States, that only totals to about $1,781.  That is not a complete drop in price where it is cheap, but compared to the first price you saw, I am sure you probably think it is.
Some of the features on this unlocked mobile phone include a 2.2 inch display, 3 megapixel camera, 316L-grade stainless steel casing, and 4 GB internal storage.  If you have a little extra money to spend, then you can buy the crocodile skin back.  That only comes extra though, and you will have to pay some more for it.
Now you are probably thinking why in the world would someone buy a phone that expensive when you can already get a top notch phone for less than half of the price?  Well, that may be true, but if you have the money, then why not show off another really cool gadget of yours.  Anyone would be extremely impressed if you pulled a Lamborghini Spyder out of your pocket when picking up the phone or receiving a text message – plus, it has some really cool features to go along with its unique look.  So, if you have some extra money this year to dish out on something, then you might as well hook yourself up with a new cell phone.  It could even work out as a Christmas present – just imagine the look on the face of your significant other when if she unwrapped a Lamborghini Spyder!

Built-in QT support with Samsung i8910 HD’s latest firmware update

There seems to be a plethora of new firmware updates for Samsung’s Unlocked ( i8910 ) HD mobile phone. It received yet another unofficial firmware update with the version HX7 having been released. Although Samsung itself has not shown itself to be all too eager to provide updates for its Symbian powered smartphone, the i8910 HD, the community of hackers who happen to own this power packed multimedia mobile set has been keen to continually provide improvements for the device. These tech-savvy users are bringing quite a number fixes and enhancements.

Previous such firmware updates (like the HV-V5) included fixing a Java certification problem and improving the battery life. Also disk space on C: was maximised, there was an improvement in the quality of images, etc

Among the most recent upgrades of the phone is one designated as HX7 also known as the “Black Pearl.” With this offering, the interface settings have been improved with the inclusion of kinetic scrolling. The camera now saves pictures or video clips with a yyy:mm:dd format rather than the usual text. The Wireless LAN power has been set back to normal, but this can be changed if required under the Settings. The threaded SMS feature is retained and pocket data connection has reverted to normal. There are added effects to the 3-D taskbar switcher. The widget homescreen gadget.swf has been shifted to the e:\ drive. The Musicplayer now searched only the e:\music and f:\ music folders instead of making a full scan for media. And of course, there has been an approximate 20% improvement in the battery life.

Also, the QT 4.6.2 Symbian libraries are built-in with this release which is notable because QT is one of the key features of the Symbian OS. .

It is to be noted all data on C: will be erased after the update. Hence, proper backups or transfer of files to other disks is necessary before installing the firmware upgrade.

Microsoft windows Phone 7 reaches ‘Technical preview’ stage

The arrival of Microsoft Windows Phone 7 is drawing closer steadily with recent news of some websites being able to get hold of test units. Such developments have been ongoing for quite some time now. The biggest news so far came with the announcement of the ‘Technical preview’ milestone which states that the phone is supposedly in its final stages and is almost ready for use. We can safely say that Microsoft is almost gearing up for the launch soon. The phone has already been tested by a huge number of Microsoft employees through everyday use along with the various tests of quality and functionality in the labs. This procedure is followed in order to provide a bug-free phone and repeated testing has allowed the sorting out of all the possible problems. The ‘Technical preview’ earmarks the fact that the testing stage may almost be over.
In present times, the mobile space is the best way to stay alive in the market for tech companies and Microsoft is targeting to achieve just that through all these elaborate procedures to make sure everything is up to the mark. The Windows Mobile and KIN handsets haven’t made much impression previously and Microsoft is desperate to turn the situation around with the launch of Microsoft Windows phone 7.
LG and Samsung have teamed up with Microsoft before the launch and this support will prove valuable as these companies have great reputations as well.  Zune, Xbox and Silverlight runtime capabilities along with other significant features are rumoured to be present and those are sure to be major draws. It is difficult to predict success for Microsoft Windows phone 7 rights from the start but it is more than capable of picking up the pieces and delivering a good product which has both quality and functionality. The effort put in by Microsoft to get this product ready should be applauded and if all goes well, Microsoft may be able to compete against the giants like Apple Unlocked Phones and Google.

Last shipment of the HTC Nexus One taken off by Google

The HTC Nexus One which has been one of the most popular phones in the Android market will sadly be pulled out of the web store of Google. This phone is one of the few phones in the market which actually has a fully working and good Android 2.2 Froyo. We are really disappointed with this pulling back as this phone was indeed providing some stiff competition to the other Unlocked Smartphones which are there in the market. Sadly we have received confirmation of the fact that Google will be closing the web store.

In a statement given in this relation, the software big wigs have said that according to their earlier announcement that they would be closing the web store for the Nexus one they have received the last of the shipments of this phone. What is the sad bit of news is that after this shipment sells out, this device will not be available from the Google online. If you are sad about this phone being pulled off the shelf, do not worry as the phone will be sold by specific partners all around the world which include KT from Korea and Vodafone in the European region. There will be other partner releasing this phone based on local buyer needs and conditions which are prevailing in the market.

There is some good news for the developers as Google will be providing the phone with the newest Android OS to the developers who are registered by way of a partner who will help them push this product to the developers. This will be done by logging onto the Android Market Publisher web page and go to the special account made for the developers to get your Nexus One. This is a sad bit of news for the potential buyers and if you are looking to get this classic Android phone then hurry until it’s too late.

Antenna page from Apple after the controversy with iPhone 4

By now we have seen how the iPhone 4 is said to be losing its reception when you hold it in a certain way. There has been much talk about all this and in response to the controversy Apple have launched a web page which says that this is not a problem which is only there on the Unlocked iPhone 4 and it is there in other major smartphones which are there in the market. On this page, Apple has said that this problem affects other phones depending on how you hold them. Furthermore, they have also targeted the media for over hyping this problem.

They said that this kind of signal loss can be seen in any kind of electronic equipment which uses internal antenna system including a television set which shows signal cut if you place your hand over the receiver. They have also said that the degree of the signal cut that may take place when you do put your hand on the signal receiver depends upon the composition and the thickness of the obstruction that is placed on the antenna. They have also pointed out that in mobile phones, when the hand comes over the sensitive part of the antenna the signal does get cut. This according to them is seen not only in the iPhone 4 but also in other major smartphones like the Unlocked BlackBerry Bold 9700, the Droid Eris and their own iPhone 3GS. They have constantly maintained that this is not really a problem which is unique and indeed only a small fraction of their users have reported this problem.

However they have agreed to give their users free bumper cases and even give the owners a refund for the phones that they have bought. We also think that if this problem is not really that unique, then why was this blown out of proportions like this?, Maybe it was just the hype over this phone.

Windows 95 re-designed on Android emulator

As the days go by, humanity experiences change in every way possible. But perhaps the most intriguing of all these changes is the development in technology, which practically defines everything that you, do in your everyday life. Not only has it touched all of us; it has most definitely changed our lives too. With every stride mankind has evolved into a smarter and more intelligent version of itself. What was a luxury, is today an everyday common object for us. And almost everything that you left back almost moves into extinction. If you rewind a few years, you will probably remember that the Windows 95 was the only existing available operating system, that is, if you deliberately wanted to avoid Macintosh. Although it might have been a bit slower and more vulnerable to bugs, Windows 95 was the in thing 15 years ago. But in spite of all these, the Windows 95 was an abode for games. Nearly everyone was mesmerized by the graphics on such computers.

It might just be possible to go back to those golden days and live it again thanks to a user named mamaich who was able to restore the old and much loved Windows 95 with the help of an Android emulator. The hacker brilliantly re-manufactured the older version, Windows 95, and got them up and running as two different versions-one is the less faster but a much steadier version and the second one is the faster version, although it lacks the normal stability, in other words stead.

However, the question is whether anyone would want Windows 95 in their Android phone. Thus was the case with mamaich, who gave up on it as he found it quite boring and not worth the effort being put in. So the next time you want to reminiscent about such ‘golden computing years’ all you need is a modern day Android device.

Mobile incentive platform by WeReward

WeReward is on a roll. After the launch of the iPhone app, WeReward brings to you a ‘mobile incentive platform’. The introduction of this platform would be another feather in the cap of the Android (Unlocked Motorola Milestone) community. This ‘mobile incentive platform’ builds on the idea of Foursquare, a location based social networking site. In Foursquare, users check in at venues and earn points or badges. These badges and points help in leveraging the status of the user in their social network over Foursquare.

The ‘platform’ brought about by WeReward work on similar lines. Users via this platform may comment on places and products while on the. It is almost a live commentary about the product or place, directly from the customer or user. Thus, a true description of the experience is brought forward. Customers are also rewarded when visiting certain specified venues. The user not only discovers new places and experience new things but also earn a small reward in the process. The technology also allows the user to take photos and share these experiences with friends even when on the move.

Companies also find this service attractive as they can take part in the networking to claim their business. As the customers express their honest comments about the experience, companies can use this feedback for betterment of their service. This can also be used as an advertising tool, as the customers would be spreading good words about the product or service voluntarily without the company having to spend too much time and effort on advertising. This method of networking can also be very effective in reaching new customers. New customers can be intrigued or interested on hearing the response from users who have enjoyed the experience.

After iPhone and Android, Blackberry is the next big thing. The mobile application for RIM’s platform is set to hit the market ‘within the next eight weeks’.

Malware discovered in the Symbian S60 handsets

Given the advancements in technology in recent times it is almost impossible to predict the outcomes or the aftermath of any software launch. As the advantages of technological advancements are gigantic, there are a few cons attached to such improvements. Although most parts of it do good to the general population there are some, which has weighed down the pros. The security that is theoretically very intact can be breached and might be endangered by external forces. NetQin, the firm dedicated to mobile security has discovered an imminent threat in the form of an infiltration that has apparently breached Symbian S60 and is tapping its resources. The company has pointed out three sets of malware masked as games in the mobile phones or even exclusive offers breaching the third and fifth Symbian S60 handsets. An estimated hundred thousand users all over the world were affected and are under direct threat.

It is anticipated that the malware possibly will deliver texts to all the infected handsets directly or can even spontaneously send messages to cell numbers via the server. And quite expectedly you will not be able to perceive messages as and when they are delivered as they would be erased from the outbox pronto. The Symbian foundation termed the threat to be of very minor caliber and expects things to go the same exact way as it had been. According to them the threats though of a very severe degree, will in no way affect the working of the handsets in a fatal manner and anticipates things to tidy up. Moreover they stressed on the point that the handset’s usage in botnets is a far-fetched theory and reportedly said that there were no evidences of the former whatsoever. However it is advised that you keep a tag on your bill that you have to pay for your unlocked phone and keep a check whether the amount of messages sent from your cell is more than the amount you actually send.
