Adobe Flash ‘Frashed’ into iPad

There are many drawbacks in the Apple iPad, but one of the most significant problems is that Apple and its CEO, Steve Jobs have prevented Adobe’s Flash technology to run in the Mobile Safari browser. According to Steve Jobs, Flash is not really required as with newer advancements in HTML5 standards, it becomes possible to achieve the same visual experience that flash provides. In fact, users would have already been used to such HTML standards over the years.

But despite all this, there are lots of sites on the Internet that do not work correctly on the iPad and Apple Unlocked iPhone, as well as other IOS devices. But fortunately, the eternally helpful community for iPhone development has tried to solve this problem, and has ported the Flash application to the iPad. At the moment port is called “Frash”, and it is the infant most stage in introducing Flash technology to the iPad.

The real brain behind this very helpful development is Comex, known for great deal of iphone hacking and it is totally responsible for Adobe’s Flash runtime compatible with the iPad. The Frash port is based on version 10.1 of Adobe Flash. This same application runs on Android phones (Google Nexus One) with Android 2.2 Froyo Operating System. In the case of Frash, it was possible to run Flash applications from within Mobile Safari, and it has been seen that Flash applications are working fairly well on the iPad.

Frash uses a multi-process model, which is similar to that of Chrome. So, if Frash/Flash decides to crash, it does not shut down the whole browser with it, which is an advantage. Safari doesn’t shut down, and continues to play other content which has Flash on the page. Frash is not ready for public exposure, as keyboard and video inputs have not yet been made available.

So, for now, only hope is that the world comes to terms with using HTML5, or Steve Jobs and Apple decides to give it’s i-devices some Flash love.

While in the past it was only on the iPad, you can now be happy as other iOS softwares such as those for the iPhone and the iPod Touch are also capable of making use of iBooks. So what do you have to do to get your hands on it? Simply log onto iTunes and grab the application for your mobile.

With iBooks for the iPhone, it becomes possible for you to now download some of your favorite books directly from the iBookstore, which you can access via the internet. There are also free complimentary illustrated copies of Winnie-the-Pooh by A. A. Milne that are gotten with each iBooks application. Apple Announces iPhone 4

Apple CEO Steve Jobs today announced plans for the new iPhone at its Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco. Featuring an entirely new design, the Unlocked iPhone 4G is now made from glass and metal. As compared to earlier versions of the iPhone, the latest model is also much thinner. Says Steve Jobs, “The newer iPhone 4 will only have a thickness of 9.3mm, which is basically 24% thinner than the current model available. At the same time, there is also an additional front camera that users can use along with two noise cancellation microphones.” Other features of the iPhone 4 include the ability of supporting GPS, Bluetooth, 3G and also Wi-Fi capabilities. The new external steel bands used in the construction of the body also serve as an antenna for radio. The new display is 3.5 inches with a pixel resolution of 960 x 640 and supports pixel density of 326 pixels per inch which is even more than possible with the human eye. With a contrast ratio of 800:1 and In-Plane Switching, reports state that there is an improvement of 4X in the functionality of the iPhone 4 over that of its predecessor.

The processor used in the  iPhone 4G Unlocked device  will be similar to that of the iPad, with both making use of the A4 1GHz processor. Even the battery life has been expanded considerably with Apple claiming users can expect 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of video playback, 40 hours of music playback, 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 7 hours of 3G talk time and 300 hours of standby time. In relation to cellular networks, the iPhone 4 also supports EDGE as well as GSM. However, the maximum storage capacity of the iPhone 4 has been left the same as that of the iPhone 3 with a maximum of 32GB. Another improved functionality is that of 6 axis gaming on the iPhone 4 due to a new gyroscope.
