Kik Messenger: Learn About It

If you have not already heard about the Kik messaging app, then we will tell you a little about it.  This is definitely been a very popular messaging tool throughout the world.  This application is designed to do one thing, and that is to communicate instantly and effortlessly with your friends.  This has gained tons of popularity over the past few weeks just from the buzz of it.  What is not to love?

Kik now has a total of over 1.2 million users signed up according to their CEO Ted Livingston.  Ted also mentioned that Kik had to charter a plane and load it up with extra servers just to bring their data center just to keep the service up and running to handle the influx of users.  By that sentence, you can definitely see how popular this messaging application has become over the past few weeks.  Many people would say the growth of this is just remarkable.  Not many applications have seen this kind of take off in popularity in recent memory.

Kik has also recently submitted a new update to Apple’s App Store which will fix any bugs that they may have for the Unlocked iPhone 4.  Also, it will introduce their new privacy features.  According to rumors, Kik will add the ability to opt out of the service that suggests users to you, and you will be able to block users.  By doing this, you will not be a suggestion for other people to add either though.  That could hurt you in the friend’s list department if you care about that.  You can also make it so that no one can message you unless you are already friends.  You will have the opportunity to decline anyone you wish; this will keep stalkers from bothering you.  This will definitely be an application that many people will enjoy.

Is The iPhone 4 Damage Prone

Squaretrade, a company that specializes in selling extended warranties, has reported that their internal research shows that the iPhone 4 is the least likely of all phones to fail during the first year of use, but is the most likely of the phones to break when dropped or due to other accidental damage.

The study was conducted over the course of a year, and looked at more than 50,000 cases where replacement of the iPhone 4 was required. The good news is that if you do not drop or accidentally damage your iPhone 4, it is the most likely to survive of all of the models of phone. The Motorola and Unlocked HTC Desire Z Android phones tied for second place in least likely to malfunction as a result of accidental damage.

Including both stats (accidental damage failures and malfunctions not a result of damage) the iPhone 3GS was the least likely of all phones to fail. A number of different BlackBerry models were not far behind in this category. A total of 6.3% of all Blackberry phones failed during their first year of use; including hardware malfunctions that cause the phone to no longer work.

No phone went past an overall failure rate of more than 16%. This shows that most smart phones are well designed for the daily use of even the most careless of users. IPhone 4’s reported a total of 9.4% requiring replacement in the first year due to accidental physical damage to the device. By comparison, BlackBerry devices had an accidental damage level of only 6.7%, the lowest of any of the phones that were tested. Hopefully apple will take an in depth look at the study in an effort to beef up their Unlocked iPhone 4 and make it less prone to malfunction as a result of accidental damage.

Looking for Android For iPhone?

It wasn’t that long ago that it was thought to be nearly impossible to run the Android operating system on an iPhone. Since that time,a  number of developments have been made, and it is now possible to run the Android platform on your unlocked iPhone4. A little over half a year ago, the first video surfaced online that showed Android legitimately running on the iPhone. It was the first that was believed to be real, after a number of badly faked videos had made their way to YouTube claiming that they had been able to run the Android OS on the iPhone.

Since that time, hackers have continued to whittle away at the hardware and now you do not even need a PC to put the Android operating system on your iPhone. It was, at least at one time, a very complicated step by step process that would lose even advanced users. Now, a few touches of the touchscreen and you can have Android running on your iPhone in no time.

Currently, only the first generation of iPhone and the 3G model are able to runt he Android service. The unlocked iPhone 4 and 3GS are still not supported for the current method. It will be interesting to see if hackers are able to crack the 3GS and iPhone 4 in the coming months. Many iPhone users and former users are interested in running the OS on their iPhone’s, if for nothing else than some access to new apps that are not available on the Apple app Marketplace.

hopefully the other versions of the iPhone will be cracked in the coming months and users will be able to run the Android operating system on those platforms as well. Given enough time, it will almost certainly happen at some point.

iPhone 4 Unlocked Feature: Facetime

FaceTime is a feature that is revolutionizing the way that we communicate when we are on the phone. Video calls have been seen in fiction movies for quite some time, but has never really been a viable option for everyday use. Now, the VGA-quality front-facing camera on the iPhone 4 unlocked allows you to easily have a video chat with any friends of yours that also have the iPhone 4. With a single press of a button you will be able to see the face of whoever you are talking to.

The possibilities that surround the phone are endless. Imagine being able to see the first steps of your child even though you are spending the day at work, or even watch their first steps. The FaceTime feature that is included with the iPhone 4 is changing the way that we communicate.

Front and Back Facing Cameras

One of the biggest draws of the iPhone 4 was the front facing camera. Most realized that this would allow them to video chat while seeing the image on the screen, but many did not realize that the HD camera on the back of the phone would be just as useful. It allows you to share special moments such as birthdays and beautiful landscapes. Imagine being able to be present for any event that takes place, even when you might be out of the state. This could be as simple as getting a good look at your pets while you are out of town, or watching your son blow out the candles on his birthday cake while you are away at a business meeting – the possibilities are endless with the front and back facing cameras of the iPhone 4.

All you have to do to activate the feature is wait until you are already into the call and connected, and then press the bottom-middle button that reads “FaceTime.” This will allow you to invite whoever you are talking with into a FaceTime video chat. They will first have to accept your invite, and once they have you will both go through a quick loading screen and then will begin your video chat. There is no other phone on the market that offers video chatting with such simplicity and ease.

FaceTime has been one of the biggest draws as far as new unlocked iPhone 4 features go. The ability to video chat with whoever you are talking to on the phone has been something that many have been waiting for for many years and is finally coming to fruition.

Facebook Growing in Popularity

A leading mobile phone blog has reported that Facebook usage on mobile phones are growing in popularity at a huge rate; you might be shocked when you hear that there are now 200 active users on Facebook mobile.  Yes, you heard that right: 200 million active users.  That is 65 million more active mobile Facebook members than last year’s total.  It’s crazy if you think about how fast Facebook has taken off.  It has become such an addiction that people need to be on even when they are away from their computers.  That is not all necessarily bad though, because Facebook can definitely come in handy.  For example, if you are on the road and in need to get in contact with someone that you have no idea what their number is, then you can just contact them through Facebook.
Some of the features of the iphone4 unlocked iOS Facebook application will have the new “groups” implementation along with making it easier to tag the location of people.  The features will also make it extremely easy to upload photos to a “place.”  I am sure the 200 million active users will be more than happy to hear that news.  However, the Android application seems to be a little behind the rest.  CEO Mark Zuckerberg did say that he will be getting the “places” and “groups” functionality soon.  Not only that, but he promised “true parity” between the two separate applications in the future.  CEO Mark Zuckerberg did not give a timeframe for when the new features will be up to date, but he did say that they will be out sooner than later.  This should be great news for all Facebook mobile users that are looking forward to using these new features.  They will be here before you know it!

Preording the Samsung Omnia 7

The Samsung Omnia 7, one of the first Windows 7 enabled phones, is now available for preorder in the United Kingdom.  The phone is amongst the first to boast the very powerful, very streamlined Windows 7 operating system.  Unlike Apple’s unlocked iPhone4 interface or the Droid operating system, this OS promises to be able to take smart phones to a currently unheard of level of power.   These phones will not be great only for the current most popular uses (including, of course, phone conversations, texting, and e-mail), but should boast a much better capacity for social applications and gaming.

If you are the sort of person that plans to use a phone for more than just chatting, the Samsung Omnia is a great choice.  The display itself is around the same size as an iPhone or Motorola Milestone Droid unlocked (the phone is a 4-inch model) and is as richly featured as any other phone on the market.  Best of all, it features one of the most anticipated operating systems of the last few years in Windows 7 Mobile, and the potential for the device is limitless.

This phone is only available for pre-order for T-Mobile customers in the United Kingdom.  The phone itself runs a hefty £300 for the device alone (around the same price as any other Smartphone on the market), but signing a two year contract can actually lead to getting the phone free.  This is one of the better deals on a full featured smart phone on the market, and should be jumped upon by anyone wanting to try out this new phone.

It is not often that such a revolutionary new device comes on the market, and even rarer that it is available at such a great price.  For anyone wanting to be ahead of the curve on technology, the Omnia is a great pick.  In addition, even for those that just want a new, stable Smartphone, this Samsung model is one of the best coming out on the market.

Asus setting its sights on getting its Android to compete directly with Apple?

Jerry Shen, CEO Asustek Computers recently said that the company intends to release a high end tablet which will run on the Android platform. The tentative release date is around March 2011. The tablet, will be the latest addition to Asustek’s Eee Pad range of devices, and is expected to cost less than $400.

A dedicated team of 800 engineers have been assigned to work on Android compatibility by Asus. However before the imminent release of the Android tablet we may well end up seeing Asus release what is believed to be a tablet powered by Windows 7, costing around $1000. To what extent will powering the tablet on Windows 7 be a good idea is open to debate and most opinions call it a disaster waiting to happen, still you can never really know!

The buzz in the market is that the Asus tablets may well be the much awaited products that can battle the growing dominance of Apple’s iPad in the market. However that is a long way away to say the least. Yet the delay may actually be a good thing if Asus is indeed trying to make the tablet more user friendly during this time as the CEO claims. Mr. Shen believes that if the iPad has to be tackled in the present market situation then a lesser price alone will take them nowhere, the need will be to offer more features at their intended price. If Mr. Shen is to be believed then the 800 engineers involved are looking to do just that with the tablet from Asus.

Beating Apple at its own game in its own playground will be no mean feat, yet there is much hope that Asus will take Apple iPhone4 on with their feature laden project. If all goes well then the release for Asus’s tablet and the Android Gingerbread will coincide. If that happens, Apple may be in for a very busy summer indeed!

New BlackBerry Torch 9800 will be the perfect smartphone that can be used by business professionals for fun

Looking for that one smartphone that deserves the name and adjective “smart” all at once? Well if you believe then you need not look any further than the brand new Unlocked BlackBerry Torch 9800. The new ad campaign goes in very simplistic terms “Business Meets Pleasure”. The question to be asked is, Is that really the case? A brief insight into the phones features will effectively reveal as to whether the claims can be backed by substance or the promises are in fact hollow. In that case let us delve into this much awaited device and its much hyped features.

Disappointing is one word you would use to describe the camera. Five Megapixels of clarity and it still refuses to bring up the quality of photos that a Sony phone would. We don’t hold this against the Unlocked BlackBerry Torch but a phone that promises pleasure despite the business like attitude could do better. The BlackBerry OS 6 is not a touch screen dedicated OS or at least by the looks of it. The battery life is magnificent and no other word can describe the feeling of using the phone for a day and half and still have a good amount of battery life left. The 3.2” display is good as expected. However the business aspect disappoints in at least one sphere, the processor which is a mere 624 Mhz processor when clearly a GHz processor was needed to overcome the excessive hanging.

The music functions are good except for the storage capacity where the iPhone4 wins hands down. The Webkit enabled part of this phone is wonderful as the Universal Search feature on this phone sets us drooling from the utility point of view. The reception quality is decent though a visit to the subway might cause you some distress.  In short this is one good phone! Business and pleasure? Not more than the iPhone, not yet at least!

Music Streaming Now Made Easier

Today iPhone, iPod and iPad touch users hope for one common feature- iTunes on the cloud. Most Audiophiles have an enormous music collection which cannot be accommodated in any of Apples iDevices due to its insufficient capacity and so one of their desires is to able to stream their music collection anytime, anywhere. In the latest update of iDisk by Apple traces of a similar feature has been found which had not been publicised. Apparently Apple enables background music streaming from the iDisk application. However this piece of information was embedded amongst the release notes.

At first, to use the iDisk, one will have to subscribe to MobileMe. Apple’s online data storage services have always allowed you to play music if you once load your songs in it. Only shortcoming was that the application would shut down if you closed it. Surprisingly now the application streams tunes to your ears while it is present in the background. At present Apple also allows public sharing of the files without any restrictions. These two features combined will surely set off alarms amongst the record labels that need a license for music streaming. However one will be listening to their own music for which they paid and stored it will be stored on an online storage service.

Even though many might consider this to be great feature and an easy way of getting to play additional tunes through your iPad or Unlocked iPhone4 if it’s already overloaded with all the music it can handle it does not fulfil ones hopes related to cloud-based iTunes. To get music into your iDisk, one will have to pick out and manually add them to their iDisk whereas it can be easily synched in case of iTunes. Thus we see Apple flourishing it yet again with the iDisk.

Apple iPhone 4 owners are now simply falling in love with the device

We have got some new survey results with us where we have found out something which is well against the huge fiasco which was going on regarding the Unlocked iPhone 4. This is astounding as all the reports which we had got about this phone were all negative and there was not a sign of anything positive happening. This is something which we actually do not want to change as it is finally some good news about this device which definitely has huge potential. According to the reports that we had, over 70 % of the respondents in the survey had said that they were actually pretty satisfied with the performance of the Apple iPhone 4. Other than that around 21% have said that the service of this phone was only “somewhat” satisfactory. Although this is a welcome reprieve for Apple, it pales in comparison to the 82% satisfaction rate of the earlier iPhone 3GS which was surveyed earlier in the year 2009.

Still the company should be pretty happy about this as the Unlocked iPhone 4 has received a huge amount of criticism with the now infamous problem of the death grip and the reception dropping as you held the phone in a particular way. In fact such surveys have said that users in the market have actually rated it above some of the BlackBerry phones. There are a number of reasons why this phone has actually been rated this highly by the people who have been surveyed here. One of the major things is the indigenous Retina Display which is excellent, Other than that; there is the 5 megapixel camera which has been really liked. Furthermore this phone has brilliant battery life along with multitasking capabilities. In this relation, the downside is the need for AT&T whereby the coverage for this network is pretty low and unsatisfactory.
