While the original BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Series had an incredible run, with only some minor tweaks the phone lasted well over three years with essentially no changes, it is time for this classic phone series to be retired and a new wave of BlackBerry Pearls to hit the market.
At its recent WES conference RIM unveiled the all new Pearl 3G. This new device which is being rumored as the Pearl 9100 becomes the very first RIM device with 802.11n WiFi support. The new Pearl 3G also features a 3.2 megapixel camera, 256MB of internal storage with microSD expansion up to 32GB, GPS, triband HSDPA with quadband GSM / EDGE, and a 360 x 400 display.

RIM is also making this new device available in “several lustrous colors” and two different keypad configurations a numeric 14 key and more traditional SurePress 20-key. However, there is no indication that the rumored QWERTY version will actually make it to retail or that the company intends for users to be able to swap modules themselves.
Consumers can expect the phone to launch with various carriers in May. Since the devices have both AWS and 850 / 1900MHz 3G versions I would expect to see this mobile device launched on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks.
Since the original BlackBerry Pearl was so popular and lasted on the market virtually unchanged I would expect much of the same from RIM and their new Pearl 3G. After seeing what the different specs were going to be for these new devices I think it is safe to predict that the new Pearl 3G will be just as successful as its predecessor if not more so. Being a part of the 3G network will be a big boost to this already fantastic mobile device.

Thanks to the good people at BBTweeps there is a new Beta version Twitter client for your BlackBerry devices. This new Beta version makes RIM’s average Twitter client slightly less average. The new Twitter client should work for anyone running BlackBerry OS 4.5, 4.6, 4.7, 4.7.1 or 5.0. The new features associated with this Beta version include:
• Profile editing
• Click profile pictures to enlarge them
• Faster performance by way of data caching
• Twitter List viewing and creation
• Font settings
• You can now disable the navigation bar, and remove the update box from the app’s homescreen.
While this Twitter client still has a ways to go before competing with the likes of Seesmic and TweetGenius this is still great progress and offers some valuable updates that the previous Twitter client did not have.

The biggest improvement associated with this Beta version in my eyes is the faster performance by way of data caching. I know from experience that using the older version could be quite cumbersome at times when the client took a long time to load different pages. Also, being able to update your profile on the go is another nice feature of this Beta version. Many times I wanted to make changes to my profile when I thought of them while I was away from my computer I was unable to. With this new Twitter client that will no longer be the case.
Certainly this Twitter client is still lacking in many areas but it does appear that some significant changes have been made which leads to believe that other upgrades are coming in the future. Hopefully they will be able to nail down this client and provide the best Twitter experience for your BlackBerry devices.

As was announced last summer Verizon Wireless’ branded V Cast Apps market is finally ready to hit the market. While this move has been several months in the making it was not until recently at the CTIA wireless conference that we were provided with an actual date this new market place would be released. The first mobile phone to receive this new market is going to be the BlackBerry Storm2 Unlocked Phone. It is expected that other RIM devices and hopefully other mobile platforms will join the Storm2 and start to carry the new app market place in the coming months.

The new V Cast App market is not expected to take the place of Unlocked BlackBerry Phones App World which will lead to two coexisting markets on one device. With this move of opening up their own branded app store Verizon Wireless is attempting to be the key point of contact for content and apps purchasing.
Verizon will share 70% of revenues with developers and will offer them access to its carrier billing platform so that their apps can be charged directly to the user’s bill. This will certainly get the attention of many mobile phone app developers as it will be much easier for Verizon customers to download and pay for apps when they are conveniently billed to their monthly cell phone bill. Having this option could mean a huge boost to Verizon’s app market and could increase revenues dramatically.
I think it is a great idea that Verizon is opening up their own branded app market place. This will certainly create some competition in the mobile app space for Verizon phones. Also, with their unique billing system the V Cast Apps market sounds like it will be a cinch for customers to use as well.

Over the weekend mobile communications company Research In Motion updated their BlackBerry internet services to version 3.0. The new software offers some new features to BIS BlackBerry users such as Gmail label support, better attachment support and more languages. There is nothing that users need to do as these features are automatically active.

This is a move that has been needed for a long time. Some of the most common complaints for various BlackBerry devices have been their lack of useful features compared to other smartphones. With this new update BlackBerry internet services will have many features that make these devices compare favorably to the other smartphone devices on the market today.
By having better email attachment support and more languages this update by Research In Motion will surely by a welcomed sight by many business users of Unlocked BlackBerry phones. With these new features many of the BlackBerry phones will become much more user friendly and allow for a smoother email experience.
For people using Gmail on their BlackBerry devices they will certainly love the update to version 3.0. Being able to utilize the labels feature within your Gmail account will be a welcomed addition as this feature makes storing and sorting through old emails a breeze. This is one of my favorite features of the Gmail client and easily allows me to manage all of my old emails.
It is always a pleasant surprise when updates like these occur from Research In Mobile. These updates show that BlackBerry is listening to its consumers and continually striving to put out a better product. Knowing that BlackBerry Unlocked Phone is willing to listen to their customers will certainly make many people take notice and think about purchasing a BlackBerry device in the future.

It is pretty interesting that the new application TigerText has been released on the heels of all of the controversy surrounding professional golfer Tiger Woods. This new iPhone 3GS unlocked application lets people control how long some of their text messages are stored on their mobile devices. If you begin to search for any information regarding the TigerText app, you will surely see many articles relating this app to the unfortunate circumstances that Tiger Woods has gone through. As you all may know, Tiger was caught being involved with several mistresses, and perhaps the most telltale sign of all of this was the fact that he did not get rid of one of his text messages, and it is believed that his wife found it.
Everyone is saying that it is just very convenient that this application has the word Tiger in it, however the company has stated that it was developed prior to the Woods scandal. Perhaps if Tiger had this app, he may not be in the mess he is in right now. The company is stated that it named its new application Tiger because Tigers are very difficult to find and they relate this to the fact that you can get rid of your messages, as well as call logs, without being tracked. The application will let you set up a time limit on how long you will want a text message to remain on your phone. When the time limit has come up, it will automatically erase the message.
Right now, you can download it for free on a trial basis for 15 days. During the trial, you will be able to use it for the first 100 messages that you receive. Once the trial is over, you will be charged at dollar 49 for every 250 messages sent. Right now this application is only available for the iPhone unlocked, however. The developers anticipate that they will be able to release it for the Blackberry and android platforms within the near future. This is certainly my guess, but I am sure that Tiger Woods has already signed up.

The Blackberry users can even add up to 10 different e-mail accounts and have their messages delivered instantly. It also have the Google mail enhance features for the Blackberry smart phones and you will be able to sync your mail both those that you have already read and those that are still not opened.

It would also enable you to create labels for those that have enhanced plug-ins from Google and are using Blackberry OS 4.6 or above. There also be additional support to be able to utilize open document presentations, spreadsheets, text documents templates, as well as to be able to use Windows media audio. It is unknown as of yet how you will be able to obtain this upgrade as it may be a to each individual carrier.
This also comes on the heels as the developer RIM, previewed a Web Kit browser touring the recent MWC conference. It is being developed for the Blackberry and will define the future of Blackberry, Internet browsing. It will fully support HTML 5 and received 100/100 on the Acid 3 browsing test. It has also been reported, although we’re not sure about the accuracy, that it may even support and deliver Flash. Much like the other e-mail upgrade, there is no word when this will be released. However, we should see it within the coming months. All of these upgrades should make Blackberry unlocked users very excited and will make their e-mail access just that much simpler.

It is not really a surprise that Amazon is offering a free Kindle app for BlackBerry users. It is called Kindle for BlackBerry and will work on numerous BlackBerry devices such as the Curve, Bold and Storm. Amazon launched a similar application last year for iPhone users.
The application can be downloaded from the BlackBerry app store and will allow you to access Kindle books. Most of the books will cost less than ten dollars. Amazon said that they are releasing this app based on customer requests to be able to use kindle on the BlackBerry mobile devices.

The Kindle has had its share of controversy recently for the low prices that it offers. Many publishers have resented the price war that Amazon has created. What we do know is this announcement for the various BlackBerry devices comes just after the release of the iPad. It is anticipated that Apple will be offering its own application for their iPad and iPhone very soon that is going to give Amazon and the Kindle a run for their money.
Here is the kicker though, you still need to purchase a Kindle and then it will sync between your PC, Kindle and BlackBerry. You will be able to create bookmarks and annotations. It will still let your preview the first chapter before you purchase an ebook. It is not yet available in UK unless you register a US address in your Amazon account. We should see this change as more carriers allow the Amazon Kindle on their platforms.
This latest announcement from Amazon should be the first of many as they want to make their Kindle the first choice before Apple has the chance to get theirs up and going. We should see much more information becoming available very soon. So all you BlackBerry Bold 2 unlocked users go ahead and get the free application.
