When RIM made the announcement about the new operating system at the Wireless Enterprise Symposium earlier in the year, it was tipped as RIM’s answer to the popularity that the iPhone and Android powered devices have been enjoying and as a way to wrestle back its proverbial throne in the smart phone market of United Kingdom with BlackBerry’s first upgrade in its operating system in a very long time. AT&T made its announcement about the new BlackBerry Torch, the new slider phone from the company a few weeks later.

In a lot of ways, the hardware is not as important to the BlackBerry 6 as many of the older and famous devices like the BlackBerry Bold 9650, the BlackBerry Bold 9700, and the BlackBerry Pearl 9100, along with the new offerings from the company the BlackBerry 9670 Clamshell, the BlackBerry Curve 9300 and the latest Unlocked Torch 9800 will all be getting a new and improved facelift. However, RIM wanted to make people aware about the upgrade and for that, they needed a new device that would be able to introduce the new BlackBerry 6 to the public. Keeping in mind the Palm Pre that was launched only some time back, it can be said that a portrait slider is not exactly the most original of plans and critics have been going about how it is just an amalgamation of the Bold keyboard on to the back of the Storm, but the finer details cannot be overlooked. The absence of the SurePress is RIM’s first if the slider is not your thing.
We expect a lot more things from RIM but we have to be content with what we are getting now. The BlackBerry enthusiasts will more or less be satisfied by the Torch but what it will do the minds of the buyers will be a worthwhile watch.

Looking for that one smartphone that deserves the name and adjective “smart” all at once? Well if you believe then you need not look any further than the brand new Unlocked BlackBerry Torch 9800. The new ad campaign goes in very simplistic terms “Business Meets Pleasure”. The question to be asked is, Is that really the case? A brief insight into the phones features will effectively reveal as to whether the claims can be backed by substance or the promises are in fact hollow. In that case let us delve into this much awaited device and its much hyped features.

Disappointing is one word you would use to describe the camera. Five Megapixels of clarity and it still refuses to bring up the quality of photos that a Sony phone would. We don’t hold this against the Unlocked BlackBerry Torch but a phone that promises pleasure despite the business like attitude could do better. The BlackBerry OS 6 is not a touch screen dedicated OS or at least by the looks of it. The battery life is magnificent and no other word can describe the feeling of using the phone for a day and half and still have a good amount of battery life left. The 3.2” display is good as expected. However the business aspect disappoints in at least one sphere, the processor which is a mere 624 Mhz processor when clearly a GHz processor was needed to overcome the excessive hanging.

The music functions are good except for the storage capacity where the iPhone4 wins hands down. The Webkit enabled part of this phone is wonderful as the Universal Search feature on this phone sets us drooling from the utility point of view. The reception quality is decent though a visit to the subway might cause you some distress. In short this is one good phone! Business and pleasure? Not more than the iPhone, not yet at least!

Research In Motion dominated this week’s headlines but Hall was not good in the news. The first slider, BlackBerry Torch was unveiled by the company. However, RIM is under the threat of banishment from some rewarding markets and hence can lose major part of its potential income. A very simple website is all that it takes to jailbreak the Apple iPhone 4 while Android is steadily growing strong in the market as Froyo has been spreading its wings wide to reach out to the customers. This week RIM launched for AT&T the Unlocked BlackBerry Torch which is a landmark in the BlackBerry series. The first slide-open form of BlackBerry is the BlackBerry Torch and also the first of its kind that is equipped with the brand new operating system of BlackBerry 6.

The BlackBerry Torch is a touch screen phone; the screen measuring about 3.2-inch and it has a QWERTY keyboard that is slide-open. The keyboard is an impressive feature of the phone but, many RIM fans are not satisfied with the screen which is a mere 480×360 pixels.
The processor might be underestimated to some extent if other 1 GHz Snapdragon devices e.g. EVO 4G are considered but, it must be kept in mind that RIM has the capacity to squeeze out power from the machines. It includes GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth; a camera with has 5 megapixels and software that can sync tunes over Wi-Fi.

The more interesting thing might be the BlackBerry 6 which is equipped with the latest Webkit-based browser and also a renovated interface for input by touch. The device is believed to be solidly-constructed and well-built by the people who have placed their hands on it. The screen falls short of the beauty of the Galaxy or the Unlocked iPhone 4 but, it responds to touch well enough. The latest OS is quite lively though it has not been put through the paces yet.

Unboxing the Unlocked BlackBerry Torch 9800 might have taken time but a thorough run through followed by an immediate video of the hardware specs was something that hardly took any time. The internet and in particular the YouTube’s and Metacafé’s of the internet are now flooded with videos that give you a hands on explanation of the specifics of this wonderfully engineered masterpiece of a device. These videos also provide a thorough look through of the BlackBerry 6 Operating System which is platform to the ever so recently-launched BlackBerry Torch 9800. You can now have a close look yourself at the features of the new Torch to understand how well the new BlackBerry browser fares, how generally, the OS fares in fairly real-world situations and conditions.

For those who still haven’t got their very own set, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 is now available on AT&T for a price of $199 particularly on a two-year agreement which is at par with the price of a DROID 2 from Verizon. The Torch boasts an HVGA display, a 5 megapixel camera which is sure to take your breath away with its quality of imaging, a slide-out keyboard which through it’s portrait orientation adds to the total compactness of the device, a total of 512 MB of RAM almost mandatory for any smartphone, a rather disappointing 624 MHz of processor power, and a totally new OS featuring Webkit browser, a number of improvements to the user interface and even a pinch-to-zoom feature. For the more enthusiastic fan of BlackBerry, there are several other review related videos of the Unlocked BlackBerry Torch 9800 but this is most important, at the end of the day for those users who in the end look for a chance to look through the set thoroughly before even thinking of walking into a store to buy one.

According to researches conducted by Saudi Communication and Information Technology Commission messages which are sent or received from Unlocked Blackberry phones are supposedly encrypted in such a way that the UAE government couldn’t decipher and eavesdrop on the phone users. Only one Blackberry enterprise is the standard in all markets. This Blackberry enterprise solution was initially designed to elude all third parties like RIM and many others. These third parties cannot under any circumstances whatsoever have access to the encrypted data neither can they store it. This shows Blackberry enterprise solutions have immense confidence in the security systems developed by them and will no way compromise.

Due to this obnoxious behaviour, UAE publicly announced that they were going to ban Blackberry service for browsing BBM and emails from October. Some countries in the Middle East like Kuwait are not completely banning Blackberry enterprises but they are improving RIM in order to block around 3,000 porn sites to be accessed by users. RIM has a reputation of complying with regulatory requirements and provides utmost security to their mobile phone users. This action was taken since among the adolescences whose first handset would be sometimes a Blackberry, were fond to indulge in porn websites hence strict action had to be taken by the government.
RIM is known to have spent almost ten years in developing strong security architecture to comply with the governments strict security requirements. This is the reason why RIM is the first choice for many enterprises and governments since RIM unlike Blackberry was ready to alter their security systems for the welfare of the government. Research in Motion had asked all enterprises to block adult sites until the end of this year and RIM supposedly issued a statement saying that their system cannot eavesdrop on Blackberry’s messages. So the Blackberry’s banned for now.

Blackberry had been making headlines for around a decade now. They were one of those things that the world looked forward too with batted eyes. It was one of the first generation Unlocked Smartphones much before Apple brought about its iPhone series and way ahead of Motorola and Verizon’s Android products. Nokia & Blackberry had been ruling the roost for quite some time now in many countries across the globe. It has its store’s, outlets, manufacturing bases and customer service main offices planted in various corners of the world. And now joining in that league is our technological giants, the mainland China.

A new Blackberry store opened up in Shanghai. This outlet provides its customers a full tour of the Blackberry experience. It even gives its visitors a chance to know the plans for China Mobile Right in store and also selling proper devices. Though the Chinese store doesn’t have all the models of the Blackberry that have been released, their sales are restricted to only the 8910 and Unlocked 8310 right now, but the way the people have responded to the Blackberry that it seems that the Chinese stores would have to recruit more crew to provide them a helping hand and more so it looks quite obvious that china would bring in all the other models of the Blackberry.

Other than that the store also sells in products such as the Blackberry presenter and the headphones and cases along with various other Blackberry accessories. Nokia has been living on the edge and risking the shutting down of few of their stores only to open up new stores somewhere else to places where there has been stronger carrier presence. This type of strong carrier presence does help it to stay ahead of the competition but it still has plenty of local competition to contend with.

Blackberry 9760 is indeed running OS 6. This news has confirmed rumors that the Blackberry 9760 is running OS 6 which is obviously a welcome change. It also has over three hundred application memory. It also has splendid other features such as 3G, GPS, Wi Fi connectivity and others. These features have already been found earlier in Blackberry mobile phones but with the addition of OS 6, it looks like a whole new package. It has given them a new dimension in quality. It is a really useful change, which is sure to draw a lot of favorable attention towards Blackberry 9760.

The best part about the whole thing is that a device is completely changed just for OS 6. There are no apparent changes apart from the operating system and we can safely say that Blackberry 9760 was changed only to modify the operating system. This may actually be a ploy to get Blackberry users to consider upgrading. This is indeed unfortunate but rather factual in modern day technology. A plan is schemed for people to follow which eventually is basically just an idea which is going to force people into complying with the desired results. It is uncertain whether there are any hardware problems for OS 6 at all. It may be just something cooked up for market reasons.

The Unlocked Blackberry 9800 is another Blackberry device which has drawn significant attention and it is believed to have quite a number of features. The features include 2G & 3G, Wi-Fi and OS 6. There are different rumors about this product but again it all boils down to the same fact of OS 6. There is no real option but to upgrade according to the present situation. The OS 6 is possibly the only positive impact coming out of this entire refreshed look of Blackberry 9760.

There had been recent rumors surfacing that RIM was planning on unveiling their new App World, although nothing was certain. However, a few days ago, not only was the BlackBerry App World 2.0 launched, but RIM is also planning on giving a tour of it through recently released pictures. According to the images released, there are soon to be various changes made to the user interface so that it can fall more in line with the OS 6. One of the most important of these changes include a category carousel that allows the user to see recently updated as well as newest applications available, the top 25 themes as well as the top 25 free and paid user themes. There is also the improved functionality of barcode scanning, which can be launched directly from the menu. All you have to now do is to simply point your camera at any barcode and it will be made available for download on your Blackberry Unlocked Device.

While it has been confirmed that the carrier as well as payments through credit card have also been allowed, there has not been any word with regard to the different services that would be supported. Another advanced feature of App World is the BlackBerry ID that is a system capable of saving all your applications should you want to switch to another BlackBerry Unlocked Gadget. In all probability, the BlackBerry App World will be ready for the launching of the, Blackberry Unlocked 9650, 9670 and the 9800. Depending on the carrier that decides to handle the BlackBerry App World, the number of customers would increase mainly due to the convenience provided by it. On the downside, the prices that you can expect in the App World are a bit steep and the barcode scanner would be much easier to implement had it been directly inbuilt into the camera software bundled with the phone.

In today’s fast world, where everyone is working 24/7, keeping social contacts and maintaining a social life can be pretty hard. It’s hard to keep contacts with friends and family when you reside far away and don’t have enough time to sit in front of the computer and chat for long. Luckily for all the workaholics, BlackBerry’s Pearl 9100 has just the solution.

The social networking website, Facebook is in high demand and has a user base of over 400 million and still growing. It allows its users to connect with friends and acquaintances and other long lost faces by means of adding people as friends, instant chats, sending messages, status updates, profile updates in order to keep their friends up to date about themselves. Moreover, Facebook allows its users to be a part of the applications, networks, blogs and groups organized by schools, colleges, workplaces, other organizations and even individuals.

BlackBerry is the other issue under consideration here. BlackBerry – the innovation and creation of the Canadian company Research In Motion- is a chain of mobile emails and Smartphone devices. It includes features like address book, calendar, to-do lists, message sending, and telephone facilities. BlackBerry stands out because of its unique capability to send and receive Internet e-mails, wherever it can access a compatible mobile network. There is still no fixed date as to when RIM might be releasing Facebook Chat for BlackBerry. No formal announcements have been done as yet. It is true that RIM hasn’t updated the application in a very long time. So, it would be a great thing if something came out soon.

However, on the downside, a harmless Facebook user while looking through the application permissions found that Facebook for BlackBerry application asked for the user’s permission to log in to the instant messaging service, though it doesn’t offer mobile chat. This problem is pretty weird, and has been taken up by Putnam and his team.

eBay will now be easier to get to if you live in any one of the six countries including
- Australia
- United Kingdom
- France
- Germany
- Italy and
- Spain

This will be achieved as it has been announced that the eBay app will now be made available on the Blackberry handheld device in the six countries mentioned above. This will be coupled with the Blackberry push mechanism by which you can keep up to date with the latest auction updates, selling updates and product details from the web pages. RIM and eBay have released an official statement saying that “We are absolutely thrilled to be extending eBay’s mobile presence to millions of Blackberry smart phone users around the globe.”
However it must also be noted that this application can only be used by the handheld owners whose phone runs on OS 4.5 or newer like the Blackberry Pearl 3G Nam. This not much of a worry as this software is available on almost of the current generation of Blackberry devices.

With this app for the Blackberry smart phone, the users can therefore not only do the usual bidding and buying but also keep a real time track of your bid status, current buying and selling activities from anywhere in the world. With the live updates function, you can actually get live updates of whether or not you have won any bids or anyone who might have outbid you. It also helps you to keep track of any listing on the owner’s watch list which may be ending soon.
So if we have to enumerate certain privileges that one gets with the eBay app on the Android we will see that it offers one facilities like ‘Add to dictionary’ by which you can save reminders and add listings on the Blackberry calendar. Also, one can get quick time updates of great deals which offer 50% discounts from the original price.
