Interesting Cell Phone Statistics
There have been some interesting statistics have been released in the past couple days. With mobile devices like the iPhone unlocked mobile phone becoming more of a part of everyone’s everyday life, some of the statistics make perfectly good sense. CareerBuilders surveyed 5200 people that have jobs that keep them away from the office. Mostly these would be salespeople or others that find themselves on the road quite a bit. Some of the statistics are somewhat disturbing.
62% of people surveyed said that they take a look at their cell phones while they are dining. This makes sense as they may be eating by themselves and need to keep track of phone calls and other information that may be important to their job. 60% of the people stated that they also use their phones while vacationing. I guess the days of getting away from it all on vacation are now over. That used to be one of the benefits of taking a trip is that you did not have to hear the constant ringing of the telephone.
Now we get into some of the more weird statistics. 57% of the people surveyed said that they use the phone while in the bathroom. Hopefully, they have not only washed their hands, but also cleaned their cell phone as well. My luck, I would accidently drop my iPhone 3GS into the commode. 50% check their phone while in bed. This takes the concept of sleeping on the job to the extreme. One of the last statistics is that 50% of these people that were surveyed said that they do indeed check their phone while they are driving. Unless they are doing this hands-free, no one should be dealing with their cell phone while they are driving. There needs to be some type of separation between work and home and hopefully mobile phone users will begin to learn that there needs to be balanced between the two.
